'Cause you left me here / I go wild / 'Cause your promises are broken
Wild / Don't you get it dear?
You're not the only one who runs on instincts
No I've got instincts of my own” ~Poe–“Wild”
At first, I had planned to take a series of lovely photos of a pseudo-masquerade, but as the project developed, some obstacles forced me to rethink my original objective. What resulted from the departure can be described as an exploration. Within this exploration of [human] nature is a short tale of a courtship that is unusual and disturbing in a way that is beautiful.
The eerie and barely human are what I find most compelling for me, and as you move through each of the photos, you will see a movement from the wild, to the most refined, and a return to the wild – each being comes full circle. Although some shifts may not be as graceful as others, there remains the common threads of vulnerability, voyeurism, and violence that brings each of these masked figures together.
Welcome.
((photos will be here once I've uploaded them))
